SO THIS IS STREET ART - A GROUP SHOW OF STREET ART
THE RICHARD GOODALL GALLERY JULY - AUGUST 2008.
So This Is Street Art? is to become the first exhibition to cross both locations of the Richard Goodall Gallery in Thomas Street and High Street, in a celebration of one of the most diverse fields to hit the art world in modern times.
At a time when the Banksy effect is pushing the genre into the mainstream, the exhibition will bring together artists from around the world whose diverse media and methods have all at one time or another been described as street art, underground art or alongside street artists. It will provide a unique chance to see the huge variety of works in a single setting, allowing visitors to decide for themselves what constitutes street art. In the exhibition there is original canvas and painted works, graffiti, stencil art, silk screens, pigment prints and sculpture.
The artists featured at the exhibition include Federico Gonzales from Argentina, Ben Allen and Eighty-Two from the UK, and James Marshall, Jordin Isip and Grant Barnhart from the USA, alongside individual pieces from a range of other artists.
Richard Goodall said: Within the current art scene, street art is a phenomenon that is sweeping everything before it, but, as a genre, it takes many different forms. Is it just Bansky? Is it graffiti? Is it just stencil art? Or is there more to it?
The breadth of work at this exhibition cant be seen anywhere else its a truly unique project. All pieces are for sale and there will be something affordable for every visitor.
